After the fleeting 1st Restoration and Hundred Days, during which they retained, with a few minor variations, the appearance they had in the final years of the Empire, the cuirassiers of the 2nd Restoration (the reign of Louis XVIII from 1815 to 1824, followed by Charles X from 1824 to 1830) presented an entirely new appearance. And throughout the fifteen or so years of the reigns of Louis XVIII and Charles X, the uniform of the cuirassiers would undergo no major changes.

Those that do occur, however, allow the study to be divided into three parts: 1815–1817, 1818–1825, and 1826–1830.

Such is the purpose of this new, richly illustrated volume, which presents a beautiful and previously unpublished study by Maître Leliepvre.
