The Italian combat dagger began its long career at the very heart of the First World War trenches. Adopted by the "Compagnie della morte" from late 1915, it was the instrument of death of the Arditi troops who spread terror among their Austrian enemies. From that period on, the combat dagger became the symbol of "Arditismo", taken up by fascism for its Blackshirts and all its elite units until its fall in 1945.

This book takes you through some sixty daggers to discover the various models used by Italian assault troops. Each dagger is presented with a technical data sheet to help collectors identify and authenticate it. An indispensable reference for the enthusiast of legendary edged weapons.
