Thirty years of research and investigation were required to gather and identify the photographs, most of which are previously unpublished. This work is the combination of three image collections and constitutes without doubt the most impressive collection in the world.
To produce it, Mark Bando, American historian of the 101st Airborne, Emmanuel Allain and Michel De Trez, the founders of the Centre Historique des Parachutistes du Jour-J, pooled their knowledge and their collections.
Mark Bando began collecting this history while most of us were not yet born. He gathered his knowledge over the years, at the source, from veterans while their memories were still intact.
Never before had the epic of the 101st Airborne to liberate Carentan and link the landing beaches been evoked with such attention to detail.
