Alesia, the culmination of centuries of defiance between the Gauls and the Romans. In the 4th century BC, Brennus uttered his famous "Vae Victis", sparking the beginning of a long centuries-old animosity between Romans and Gauls. Years of defiance between the two peoples would lead to the famous Battle of Alesia in 52 BC. Caught in Julius Caesar's political strategy, the Gauls yielded to Roman organisation.

The account of this remarkable battle is told here, enriched with numerous illustrations. Author Frédéric Bey is a designer of historical board games and the author of works and articles on military history. He is notably the author of: Rome, la légion romaine au service de l'Empire (Histoire et Collections, 2007) and Issos et Gaugamèles (Cérigo Editions, 2020).
