NEW HISTORY of the French Air and Space Force
The prestigious history of the French Air and Space Force in 480 pages and 750 rare or previously unpublished photographs
The Centre d'Etudes Stratégiques Aérospatiales (CESA) co-publishes with Éditions Pierre de Taillac a Nouvelle Histoire de l'Armée de l'Air et de l'Espace. It succeeds l'Histoire de l'aviation militaire française published in 1980 by the Service historique de l'armée de l'Air (SHAA) and the musée de l'Air, with Éditons Lavauzelle.
The aim of this new work is to provide readers with a synthesis, in fewer than 500 pages, that is both accessible and precise on the history of the French Air and Space Force from the purchase of the first aircraft by the Ministry of War in 1909 to the extension of its operations into outer space in 2020.
The texts were written by a team of more than 50 contributors including historians from the SHD, the CReA and the CESA, academics and students.
The work benefits from a very fine iconography comprising more than 750 photographs drawn from the collections of the SHD, the musée de l'Air et de l'Espace, the ECPAD and the SIRPA Air. It is further enhanced by some twenty paintings by air and space artists.
All authors and artists who contributed to the work have waived their rights to the Fondation des oeuvres sociales de l'armée de l'air.
