Organised by regiment of the 101st Airborne, most of the photographs are identified. In itself, this already constitutes information that was not previously available.

Thirty years of research and investigation were required to identify them. This work is the combination of three image collections and is without doubt the most impressive collection in the world.

To produce it, Mark Bando, American historian of the 101st Airborne, Emmanuel Allain and Michel De Trez, founders of the Centre Historique des Parachutistes du Jour-J, pooled their knowledge and collections.

Mark Bando began gathering this history when most of us were not yet born. He collected his knowledge over the years, at the source, from veterans while their memories were still intact.

Never before had the epic story of the 101st Airborne's fight to liberate Carentan and link the landing beaches been told with such attention to detail.
