U-BOOT TYP IX — All Versions of the U-Bootwaffe's Ocean-Going Submarines
Following a volume devoted to the Typ VII, and another to the last-chance U-Boote (Typ XXI and Typ XXIII), éditions Caraktère invites you to review the different versions of the mighty Typ IX, designed to strike hard and far.
The book first presents in detail the technical origins of the Typ IX, then its direct predecessor, the lesser-known Typ IA. The successive versions of the ocean-going U-Boot (Typ IXA, B, C, C/40, D1 and D2) each receive their own chapter, as do the various conning towers developed during the war. A final chapter details the submarine's weapon systems (artillery and torpedoes).
Every version of the Typ IX is covered in a clear and concise presentation, explaining why and how each was designed, and with what equipment. The whole is accompanied by precise technical data sheets, plans, period photographs and/or carefully selected 3D views to support the text. An essential reference for all submarine enthusiasts!
