ALL RENAULT MILITARY VEHICLES 1914–1940. VOLUME 1: TRUCKS

 As early as 1911, the Billancourt company entered its trucks in the "endurance trials" organised annually by the French army. This would mark the beginning of a very substantial truck production programme.

The sector's expansion, driven by the Great War, never ceased, and from one conflict to the next, tens of thousands of Renault industrial vehicles rolled out of the Billancourt factories to perform eminent service under the colours. All models up to June 1940, with a payload of 2 tonnes or more, are reviewed in the present volume.

A historical record paying tribute to all the engineers and workers who contributed to the French automotive industry in the service of the Nation.

This work devoted to Renault trucks is the first in a rich series set to cover all vehicles used by the French army, across all manufacturers.

Each volume, highly visual, reviews models and types in a systematic manner, following a chronological classification, with for each the finest available photographs, detailed technical specifications and, wherever it has been possible to trace them, original registration numbers.

In addition, the principal models are presented in colour, enabling collectors and scale modellers to discover their period liveries.

The author:

François Vauvillier, born in 1951, founder in 1984 of the company Histoire & Collections and today editor-in-chief of GBM, has established himself over the decades as the foremost specialist in French military vehicles of the first half of the twentieth century. Having "fallen into the pot" from a very early age, the author published, in the 1980s, two reference works on the uniforms of the French army in 1940, before turning to motorised subjects with L'automobile sous l'uniforme 1939–1940 (1992) and, more recently, Tous les Blindés français 1914–1940 (H&C 2014).
