All Laffly Military Vehicles 1914–1940 – Vauvillier Collection

During the Great War, Laffly, true to its original vocation, supplied the national defence with nothing more than… road rollers. But from the late 1920s, the manufacturer won over the army with its "rapid truck" LC2. Its range would continue to grow from that point on, with particular success in the field of overseas and Saharan vehicles, as well as radio vans.

Then came the secret acquisition of the patent of the Austrian engineer Hollos, which would propel Laffly to the top of the all-terrain vehicle specialists. To such a degree that, unable to meet all demand due to the modest scale of its industrial facilities, the Asnières manufacturer formed a consortium with Hotchkiss and La Licorne to ensure a production run that was, alas, cut short in 1940.

An incomparable historical reference

This volume dedicated to Laffly military vehicles is the second in a rich collection set to cover all vehicles used by the French army, across all manufacturers.

Each highly visual volume reviews models and types systematically, following a chronological classification, with for each the finest photographs, detailed technical specifications and, wherever it has been possible to trace them, the original registration numbers.

In addition, the principal models are presented in colour, allowing collectors and model-makers to discover their period liveries.

The author:

François Vauvillier, born in 1951, founder in 1984 of Histoire & Collections, today editor-in-chief of GBM, has established himself over the decades as the foremost specialist in French military vehicles of the first half of the 20th century. Having "fallen into the pot" from an early age, the author published, in the 1980s, two reference works on the uniforms of the French army in 1940 before turning to motorised vehicles with L'automobile sous l'uniforme 1939-1940 (1992) and, more recently, Tous les Blindés français 1914-1940 (H&C 2014).
