The French Army's airborne troops underwent spectacular growth during the Indochina War, which was the subject of a first book by the same authors. This second work presents the Paras in Algeria: a description of their dress, the full range of metal and cloth insignia, the famous red beret, and — for the first time — parachutes, drop equipment and weaponry. A chapter is devoted to the Commandos parachutistes de l'Air, an unjustly overlooked subject.

Although this period is characterised by a degree of uniformity in dress and equipment, numerous details specific to certain regiments persisted. The combatants' silhouettes have therefore been the subject of 25 full-colour reconstructions. The illustrations combine detailed maps, close-up colour photographs and a selection of period images. The authors, passionate about their subject for many years, have accumulated a significant collection of artefacts. They also conducted thorough research, drawing on official documents as well as the testimonies of veterans.
