The French Army's airborne troops underwent spectacular growth during the Indochina War, following the initial formations raised with Allied assistance in 1943–1945. The fighting in Indochina, with its violence and sporadic character, severely tested these units, which carried out numerous combat jumps across every hotspot, right up to the sacrifice at Dien Bien Phu.

From the perspective of uniform and equipment, this period is characterised by great heterogeneity, resulting in particularly original combatant silhouettes that have been the subject of 24 full-colour reconstructions. The illustrations combine detailed maps, colour photographs (uniforms, equipment, individual figures) and a selection of period photographs.
