In 1864, Conrad Dietrich Magirus founded the Feuerwehr-Requisiten-Fabrik von C. D. Magirus. Four years later, he presented a first ladder model that immediately captured the attention of German firefighters as well as those of a great many other countries.

The great Magirus ladder adventure had begun.

Throughout all those years, the Magirus company went through countless twists and turns, producing a wide variety of fire-fighting vehicles of which its ladders represent only a part. Its products were exported to the majority of countries around the world.

The aim of this work is to recount this extraordinary industrial saga spanning more than 150 years, drawing on a rich and varied range of illustrations. Its scope ends in 2014, the year in which the Magirus company celebrated its 150th anniversary.
