THE GÂTINAIS IN THE RESISTANCE - To the east of the Loiret, in the time of the maquis.
The Resistance heroes of the Gâtinais speak here in their own words.
Their testimonies form the framework of this illustrated work, most of whose photographs are previously unpublished. Drawing on these accounts, the author carried out historical research through official archive services as well as private documents. She also draws on reference works to contextualise local events within the national context, presenting them from both a geographical and chronological perspective. From Ferrières to Briare, from Chuelles to Lorris, the actions of groups across the region are brought to light. While this work does not claim to be exhaustive, no book had previously offered such a synthetic overview of what the Resistance was in eastern Loiret. Long the overlooked part of the department, it nonetheless had its fighters.
