One is left speechless before the quality of these drawings of extraordinary beauty. This remarkable collection of vessels, sometimes caught in full storm, testifies to the artist's great talent. Complemented by a text by Admiral Pâris, this work is a reference for all those interested in our past Navy and in ships in general.

François Geoffroi Roux (1811–1882) was a marine painter. Appointed official painter of the Navy in 1875, he was the last of the "ship portrait" painters of the Roux family.
