The twilight of French Algeria.

This work covers the final months of "l'Empire" and answers many questions that have long remained open. Yes, even before the Évian Accords, contacts between the French State and the FLN took place against the OAS and the populations opposed to independence. Yes again, there was a joint engagement against the maquis of the Ouarsenis. An order was indeed given to open fire on civilians in the rue d'Isly in Algiers on 26 March 1962.

One French general clearly refused to acknowledge the massacres in Oran and to come to the aid of the victims. The book also dwells on the refusal of metropolitan France to welcome the harkis and other auxiliaries who had served France, as well as its indifference to the exodus of the pieds-noirs. This work, drawing on previously unpublished sources, sheds light on the twilight end of French Algeria.

Author of more than twenty titles, Pierre Pellissier published with Perrin La Bataille d'Alger as well as acclaimed biographies of Massu, de Lattre and Salan.
