The present work revisits the German perspective on the Battle of France of May–June 1940.

Unprecedented, drawn from a private collection of more than 2,000 photographs, this book presents essentially "private" images, in the sense that they were taken by the soldiers themselves as "souvenirs" to bring home — in which respect they fulfil the same role as official propaganda.

These photographs trace the daily reality of a war — between combat and moments of rest, between the death of comrades and the victory over the Netherlands, Belgium and, above all, France — and its consequences: the Occupation and Annexation, the partition of France and the demarcation line…

A panorama of the Battle of France as you have never seen it, through the eyes of the invader.
