Following "45 Tiger en Normandie" and "D'Argentan à la Seine", Didier Lodieu presents the odyssey of a German horse-drawn division sent into the Eure to slow down the Americans in mid-August 1944.

The division's primary objective was to cover the retreat of the German 7th Army still engaged in the Falaise pocket. A sacrificial mission for these soldiers, who would carry out their duty to the end despite their opposition to Nazism. This saga is presented here as a first volume, as the study runs to no fewer than 500 pages, 400 photographs and more than 60 testimonies gathered from veterans of every rank and arm.

Former Chief of Staff of the 116th Pz. Div., General Guderian supervised the author's work. "Fighting on the Seine" is now part of the historical heritage of the Battle of Normandy. The fighting for the areas of Dreux, Évreux, Pacy-sur-Eure and Louviers is covered in this book, which spans the period from 17 to 22 August 1944.
