The history of the s. Pz. Abt. 503 was missing from the account of the Battle of Normandy.

Thanks to Didier Lodieu, with the endorsement of General von Rosen who approved the text, this gap has been filled. The book's great strength lies in providing precise statistics on the deployment of the Tiger in Normandy.

Having traced every one of the unit's 45 Tigers, the author offers a comprehensive account of the engagement of a heavy tank battalion during the summer of 1944.

More than 280 photographs, half of them previously unpublished, present a panoramic view of the Battle of Normandy as a whole. Some images show units previously unknown whose role was nonetheless significant. Highly detailed captions provide new and previously unpublished information on already familiar photographs.
