June 1815. It is nearly three months since the Emperor returned to Paris. Outlawed by the nations, he knows that a new invasion of France is imminent; the only chance of preventing it lies in striking the Prussian and Anglo-Dutch concentrations. To achieve this, they must be prevented from joining forces and defeated separately. On 15 June, the imperial troops seize Charleroi. Napoleon takes command of the right wing, tasked with pursuing the Prussians, and entrusts the left wing to Marshal Ney. For the "Red-Head", this final independent command would lead him to face Wellington and his heroic Anglo-Dutch allies. Far from being a second-order engagement, the Battle of Quatre-Bras could have changed the course of this Belgian campaign, but History decided otherwise… Note: For its third edition, this work has been revised and features new illustrations, as well as a previously unpublished full-page drawing by Patrick Courcelle.
