The SS Totenkopf division was among the Waffen-SS the most fanatical and most feared unit of the Second World War.

This book traces the formation of the unit, including its origins, and the key figures involved in the division throughout its wartime service and its organisation. Initially drawn from the personnel of concentration camp guard units, the division proved itself on the battlefield, distinguishing itself in all the major campaigns in which it fought, from France to Russia. Numerous photographs, maps, organisational charts and tables.

The author: Alberto Peruffo, born in Seregno in the Province of Monza and Brianza (Italy) in 1968, holds a degree from the University of Milan. He has collaborated with the Archaeological Superintendency of Milan. Also a history teacher, he has worked with several history magazines and published a number of historical essays in Italian.
