In this second volume on the Sturmgeschütze of the Waffen-SS, the reader will find the history of the assault guns of the "Totenkopf" division, initially organized as a single battery and later expanded into a powerful three-battery Abteilung.

Plunged into the ordeal of the Demyansk Pocket in the winter of 1941/42, the Sturmartilleristen endured almost continuous heavy fighting through to Austria in the spring of 1945, including Operation "Zitadelle" in July 1943 and the Poland campaign the following summer. This section is particularly well illustrated thanks to a rich iconographic heritage from Untersturmführer Jänisch and Unterscharführer Mödlinger.

Belonging to a less prestigious but highly interesting formation, the assault guns of the "Polizei" division follow — notably equipped with StuG. IVs — and are accompanied by previously unpublished photographs depicting little-known engagements such as Greece and the operations in the Banat and Hungary in autumn 1944.

Finally, the StuG. IIIs of the "Wiking" division, which distinguished themselves in the horror of the Cherkassy Pocket. Whether organized as a simple battery, a formidable group, integrated into armored units, tank destroyers or the Sturmartillerie proper, the assault guns played an essential role in the fight against Soviet armor.

In addition to immersive photographs and testimonies, the work also includes detailed biographies of StuG. aces and Ritterkreuz holders from these divisions, such as Berndt Lubich von Milovan, Ernst Dehmel, Richard Utgenannt, Hans-Georg Jessen and Willy Hein.
