This first volume presents, for the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler, the Abteilung "Schönberger", in the line from 1941 onwards, which would become the SS-Stug_ Abteilung "LSSAH", within which a young vehicle commander by the name of Michael Wittmann would begin to distinguish himself. We then follow the unit through all its engagements.

Also in 1941, the SS-Stug-Batterie "Reich", committed from Operation Barbarossa onwards, formed the embryo of the assault gun group of the 2-SS-Panzer-Division "Das Reich", which we likewise see in action.
We trace the development and commitment of the assault artillery groups of the first two divisions of the Waffen-SS through their unit histories, eyewitness accounts and a very large number of largely previously unpublished photographs, including superb images of the vehicles, as is always the case in the works of Pierre Tiquet.

Further volumes will follow to present the assault gun units of the other Waffen-SS divisions.
