This is a very little-known subject. A Waffen-SS paratrooper battalion was formed in autumn 1943 to carry out special operations missions.

The author, a Luftwaffe paratrooper captain (West Germany) holding German, French, and US jump qualifications, who served in the 1960s before becoming a historian, presents a detailed history in three volumes of nearly 400 pages each.

The first volume covers the operation against Tito's forces in Yugoslavia, the second deals with the engagement in the Baltic states, and the third with operations in Hungary, the Ardennes, and the Oder bridgehead.

This 3-volume set, devoted to the SS-Fallschirmjäger-Bataillon 500/600, offers comprehensive documentation of over a thousand photographs.
