Thanks to the war diaries and the many unpublished documents and testimonies gathered, it has finally been possible to establish a very precise chronology of the days of combat for the panzergrenadiers. Follow day by day, and sometimes hour by hour for the major battles, the daily reality of these young soldiers who would prove to be formidable fighters against British troops. The extreme violence of the fighting spared neither side, and its consequences were severe: considerable human losses and numerous war crimes.

The wealth of previously unpublished documents, enriched by an exceptional iconography featuring more than 760 photographs and documents — the majority unpublished — (period photographs, portraits, Soldbücher and archival documents, …) make this 496-page work an indispensable reference for a better understanding of the Battle of Normandy.
