The photographic technique of superimposing two identical images taken at two different periods is fairly widespread and visible on the web today, but is rarely published. It seemed fitting to use it to evoke the history of 1944, whose traces are visible everywhere in the Normandy we know today.

Without following a "classic" account of the Battle of Normandy, we hope that this book, through its writing and images, will commemorate the tumultuous events it presents.
