Amid a jumble of broken furniture and objects, hundreds of documents lay strewn across the floor. The two officers collected certain documents they judged to be of interest. Among these were some ten telegrams of primary historical importance, which allow us to understand the state of mind of the last inner circle of dignitaries of the Third Reich, as well as the events unfolding between 23 and 26 April 1945.
It is these documents that we present here exclusively, with commentary by Paul Villatoux and Xavier Aiolfi, specialists in the Second World War.
