In the United States, heavy trucks have been indispensable to the country's economic life for decades (80% of goods transported domestically move by road), while the truck continues to embody the pioneer myth of conquering the land. The truck is therefore both a working tool and a piece of history, one all the more widely shared by Americans given their deep passion for their mechanical heritage.

But the truck did not develop uniformly across the country; local specificities long persisted, tied to administrative constraints, as each state originally had its own regulations regarding gross vehicle weight and length limits.

Furthermore, the rivalry between East Coast and West Coast manufacturers also contributed significantly to shaping the evolution of the American heavy truck. This volume aims to introduce you to the world of the made in USA truck, focusing on its general history and the major brands that helped write it.
