Diamond T Vehicles of the U.S. Army, by Didier Andres

Between 1940 and 1945, the Diamond T Motor Car Company delivered just over 50,000 vehicles to the U.S. Army and its Allies. Within this production, just over 30,000 were 4-ton, 6×6 heavy trucks, which came in numerous variants: cargo, wrecker, ponton carrier, engineer dump, map van, etc.

The "Diamond" was present on every theatre of operations, where its ruggedness and reliability allowed it to handle every task without faltering. Thanks to its expertise in heavy vehicles, Diamond T was also called upon to produce the famous Half-track, with more than 10,000 units built. All these models are described in this volume by a leading specialist, drawing on archives and hundreds of period photographs.

The author Didier Andres, born in 1959 in Verviers, Belgium, is passionate about military history and American vehicles of the Second World War. He has assembled an impressive technical and photographic documentation on the subject, which he has been happy to share through regular writings — books and magazines — for some twenty years. He has also published several works with Sophia Histoire & Collections, on Chevrolet trucks, on ambulances and on the signal corps vehicles of the U.S. Army.
