From the humble motorcycle to the tank, from the Jeep to the GMC, by way of the half-track and specialist vehicles, this volume covers the entire American and British military arsenal that landed on the beaches of Normandy. The Allied landings in Normandy remain to this day the largest military operation in history. D-Day and the immense battle that followed mobilised men and materiel numbering in the thousands, not forgetting the decisive role played by the infantryman throughout the landings.

Allied Vehicles of D-Day highlights the extreme mechanisation of an Allied army that rarely moved on foot. Indeed, the first of the great victories won by the Allies was above all a logistical battle. Tens of thousands of vehicles of all tonnages stretched out in vast convoys along the main French roads, enabling the infantry and armoured divisions to drive the enemy back to the gates of the Reich.

The Liberation of France and much of Europe was above all the victory of the internal combustion engine…
