Photographer Alice Bertrand and author Claire Larquemain travel through the five Allied D-Day sectors: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword Beach. Their "navy grey" Jeep takes them from Sainte-Mère-Église in the Cotentin — the village of the American paratroopers — to the famous Pegasus Bridge at Bénouville, in Calvados.

This road trip is a journey through past and present, following iconic landmarks that still bear the scars of the greatest military operation of all time.
