If a comparison is drawn between the assault detachment (Sturmabteilung) Calsow and the assault detachment, then battalion (Sturmbataillon) Rohr that succeeded it, it is possible to assert that from the first — an experimental detachment — there emerged, within the space of a year, a remarkable combat and training formation. The work offers, among other advantages, an exceptional number of illustrations in a compact format. Indeed, it makes it possible to observe the life of this first assault unit from many angles and over a period of approximately three years. As for the text, written on the basis of the history compiled by Schwerin and subjected to verification, it incorporates information drawn from numerous sources, a list of which, placed at the end of the work, gives only a partial overview. It develops in particular the circumstances of the engagements in which the unit took part. Format 210×250 mm — 144 pages — 300 photographs and illustrations
