It gave rise to the creation of the Chartreuse Battalion, which became one of its finest units. Its men did not hesitate to carry the fight all the way to Germany, within the 9th Colonial Infantry Division of General de Lattre's 1st Army. Its casualties speak to the vigour of its commitment: one hundred dead and 550 wounded from a strength of one thousand men. It is time to rescue its history from oblivion.
