The 1932 Engineer Shirt by Pike Brothers is typical of 1930s American work shirts, with reinforced shoulders and elbows. This made these shirts far more resistant to wear at those points of friction and stress. The collar and the two chest patch pockets are characteristic of this style of shirt.

The fabric is a blend of linen and cotton fibres. This blend gives it the distinctive salt-and-pepper look typical of the era.
