The Webley revolvers were the principal sidearms of British officers during the extraordinary colonial expansion that characterised the Victorian era. Initially purchased privately by officers of Her Majesty, these revolvers were subsequently adopted by the British Army as its regulation sidearms from 1897 to the Second World War.

Riding high on the hip, the voluminous triangular holster housing a large Webley and the small rounded cartridge pouch, both suspended from the Sam Brown harness, form an integral part of the silhouette of the British officer of the 19th and 20th centuries and immediately evoke an entire world of extraordinary adventure.

Produced by a nation that had achieved, by the end of the nineteenth century, the highest level of quality in metalworking, the Webley revolvers, like their various British competitors (Adams, Tranter, Kynoch, etc.), are superb mechanisms, impeccably finished, which delight contemporary collectors.
