This volume traces with precision the career of the Nord 2501 "Noratlas", from its conception in the late 1940s to its final withdrawal from service in the late 1980s. Numerous variants adapted to specific requirements were extrapolated from it, including an electronic warfare version. Also reviewed are the foreign military operators (Germany, Israel, Portugal, Greece, and numerous African nations), as well as the few civil companies — including UAT and Air Algérie — that ordered the Nord 2502 versions fitted with auxiliary jet engines. Nord Aviation attempted to find further outlets with the N.2503, N.2506 and N.2508 versions, but too late to achieve commercial success. 6 plans, 23 colour profiles and complete production lists with aircraft unit assignments round out this study. Over 1,000 photographs!
