Volume 1 of Messerschmitt Bf 109 approached the aircraft primarily from a technical angle, with some details covering notable operational events. What followed was the entirely legitimate curiosity of readers who, through their feedback, called for even more detail concerning the identification of all variants of this legendary aircraft, its wartime paint schemes and camouflage patterns according to the periods of service on the various fronts.

These requests are addressed in this second volume, and the author has taken the opportunity to devote an entire chapter to the greatly underestimated difficulty of interpreting black-and-white photographs in order to attempt to deduce the colours… A further chapter is also dedicated to all the subcontractors who either produced the parts and accessories necessary for the manufacture of complete operational aircraft, or produced them in their entirety, or repaired and modified them.

The reconnaissance variants, often overlooked, are listed along with the cameras that could equip them.
