TOMCAT follows the intertwined destinies of this aircraft and KARA HULTGREEN, the first female fighter pilot in the US Navy, from the 1980s to the 1990s.

Him, Fast Eagle 107, is the mighty F-14 Tomcat whose legendary aerial combat over the Gulf of Sidra inspired the film Top Gun. His problem: he has temperamental engines that have already claimed the lives of several pilots.

Her name is Kara — sunny and daring, she wants to become a combat fighter pilot. Her problem: she is a woman. Never losing her sense of humour, this brilliant aviator shatters one by one the prejudices of the military aviation world towards her gender.

Until she and her female comrades finally earn the right to fly that famous F-14.

Until that fateful 25 October 1994…
