A new collection of short stories by Seiho Takizawa, a master of aviation manga.

The story that gives the collection its title, Shah's Pilot, is based on accounts from Iranian F-14 pilots during the Iran-Iraq War — a little-known yet heroic episode. The F-14 Tomcat, an American-built fighter famously featured in the film Top Gun, formed the spearhead of the Iranian air force; 79 aircraft had been delivered by the United States just before the 1979 revolution that saw the Shah of Iran ousted from power by Islamists.

The other stories also shed light on little-known feats of arms, such as the saga of the Messerschmitt Me 323 Gigant in the Mediterranean, or Count von Rosen's involvement in aerial combat in Africa in the 1970s...
