The Tirpitz was, without a doubt, one of the most formidable warships of her generation. Of redoubtable and uncontested power, the Bismarck's sistership spent the majority of her career in the Norwegian fjords. After brief and inconclusive sorties against Allied convoys, a remarkable human adventure would unfold in the effort to neutralize Hitler's last battleship.

We will embark aboard human torpedoes, midget submarines and Lancasters armed with giant bombs. British tenacity in destroying the giant was greatly aided by Norwegian resistance fighters who would stop at nothing to neutralize the Kriegsmarine's heavy units. The battleship never had the opportunity to face a peer adversary, for the Tirpitz had a role to fulfil in this war — that of "Fleet in Being" — and she fulfilled it to perfection.
