Squadron 303 The Pacific Ace Rum - The Aviator Style Rum

"During the Second World War, Marine Corps commander Greg 'Pappy' Boyington led a fighter pilot squadron. It was made up of misfits and adventurers who became the Aces of the South Pacific. They were called… the Black Sheep."

Inspired by the history of squadron VMF-214 immortalized by the famous TV series, Squadron created THE PACIFIC ACE, a rum such as pilots used to obtain — or even make themselves — during stopovers in the South Pacific, an intense crossroads of trade.

A sandalwood smoking step gives it a complexity that balances its fruity and floral notes, thus recapturing the character of the "Aviator Style Rum" of the era.

THE PACIFIC ACE rum reveals an expressive nose that opens on notes of cooked exotic fruits, dried vanilla and toasted coconut. A hint of smoke rises from the glass. On the palate, the attack is lively and pleasant. Flavors of stewed fruits and marmalade wrap themselves in a subtle veil of smoke. On the finish, vanilla dominates.

Tradition dictated that on the slightest good occasion (return from a mission, a new posting), pilots would contribute to the squadron's barrel by pouring in the contents of their personal bottle and signing the wood itself. In this way they created a natural blend of multiple origins. This barrel was generally kept in the storeroom, where provisions were stored, and was exposed daily to the sandalwood smoke used by soldiers in an attempt to protect their food from the insects endemic in those latitudes! Inevitably, this smoking process ended up giving their rum a particular and unique character; the "Aviator Style Rum" was born…

THE HISTORY OF THE ORIGINAL 70 cl SQUADRON 303 FLASK

A true icon of the Squadron 303 brand, the 70 cl flask is inspired by the hip flasks carried by Royal Air Force pilots during the Second World War. The fruit of French and English craftsmen's work, this nearly 2 kg white glass bottle features a screen-printed metal base "The Pacific Ace" as well as a chrome-plated brass cap bearing the brand's coat of arms.

It has distinguished itself at the most prestigious international spirits competitions, winning numerous awards, including a Double Gold Medal at the 2018 San Francisco International Wine & Spirits Competition, a Gold Medal and a Trophy at the 2018 International Wine & Spirits Competition in London, and the Grand Prix Design of the Year at the British Glass Awards 2017.
