VODKA SQUADRON 303 Limited Edition D-Day

Squadron 303 Vodka presents a limited edition D-DAY Calvados Cask Finish. After the Landings, certain Polish pilots delivered their vodka to the Allies in casks fixed beneath the wings of their Spitfires. With the troops stationed close to Norman farms, some of the casks used for this unusual aerial transport had previously contained Calvados — which inevitably imparted some fruity aromas to their artisan vodka. It is this anecdote from the Second World War that inspired the creation of this special cuvée celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Landings.

Squadron 303 vodka, produced from King Edward potatoes, is distilled only once at a distillery north of London. Its particularly long distillation time yields an exceptional degree of purity, while preserving a naturally sweet nose and aromas. Unfiltered, it evokes its original world: raw and full of character, far from the usual standards of vodka. Surprisingly smooth, Squadron 303 vodka has distinguished itself in numerous international spirits competitions.

This is the very first vodka aged in Calvados casks, in collaboration with the Distillerie Coquerel located in the Manche in Normandy. Arriving from England, the vodka is distributed in equal parts into two Calvados casks — one that previously held old Calvados, and another that held young Calvados. After six months of ageing, the contents of these two casks are blended, giving the vodka a distinctive aroma and flavour.

This limited edition is the unlikely meeting between the English potato and the Norman apple, which brings a touch of freshness to the artisan vodka and possesses a long, tangy finish recalling the flavours of roasted apples. Apple, certainly, but not only…

THE STORY OF THE ORIGINAL 70 cl SQUADRON 303 VODKA FLASK

A true emblem of the Squadron 303 Vodka brand, the 70 cl flask is inspired by the hip flasks of Royal Air Force pilots during the Second World War. The fruit of the work of French and English craftsmen, this white glass bottle of nearly 2 kg features a screen-printed metal base bearing the motto of Squadron 303 Vodka 'Originally Distilled in England by Polish Heroes' and a chrome brass stopper displaying the brand's coat of arms.

It has distinguished itself in the most prestigious international spirits competitions and won numerous awards, including a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco International Wine & Spirits Competition 2018, a Gold Medal and a Trophy at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2018 in London, and the Grand Prix Design of the Year at the British Glass Awards 2017.
