Romain Hugault has been drawing aeroplanes since the age of three, sitting cross-legged on the tarmac of an air base. As a child, he swore only by Buck Danny and Saint-Exupéry while others were discovering Scrooge McDuck.

He became a private pilot at 17 when most of his friends were still taking driving lessons. While aeronautical comics may seem like an obvious path, it is far from easy: it also takes a great deal of hard work, perseverance, luck, talent and meaningful encounters. In short, one is not born an artist — one becomes one!

That is precisely the subject of this book, which evokes 20 years of passionate doodling before retracing 20 years of equally passionate — and sometimes slightly mad — work!
