Born from the meeting between Alain Manoury, a seasoned model-maker and passionate collector of photographs and documents relating to the history of Dieppe from 1940 to 1944, and Thierry Chion, a historian recognised for his three previous works on specific aspects of the Dieppe Raid of August 1942, this book, which falls more into the category "Documents", does not tell the history in its every detail. Other books have done that very well. The aim of this one is to share as widely as possible the photographs (more than 300), reports, publications, and civilian and military testimonies (around fifty), most of which had remained locked away in binders until now. A few historical notes at the beginning of each chapter are sufficient for the reader to appreciate this work, which aims, as we repeat, to share with as many people as possible this collection assembled over many years.
