The 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion.

The "13th". A legend. The regiment of all victories — those of Narvik and Free France, from Bir Hakeim to Colmar. Then came Indochina and Algeria. The regiment was twenty years old, twenty years of war. And then Djibouti: a patch of "French" soil on the Horn of Africa, with its train of all-round interventions.

Fifty years "under the burning African sun". But in 2016, the 13th was called to a new adventure; it set up quarters on the Larzac plateau, at La Cavalerie on the heights above Millau, and had to urgently train more than a thousand fighters. Since then it has been carrying out domestic protection missions and overseas operations in succession.

It is this history that this book wishes to tell you, with the concrete life of those legionnaires of the 13th, "who came to defend the homeland with honour and devotion". A reality as beautiful and great as the legend that surrounded it.
