This work offers an exceptional iconographic record of these units, both on manoeuvre and on campaign. The author draws the portrait of one of their commanders, General Auguste Lardant, who commanded the 7th Alpine Regiment in the Vosges in 1915, then the 15-9 at Briançon after the war.
Following Elie Viallet, capitaine de chasseurs alpins, and Le Général Regard, de la Grande Guerre à la Résistance, Jacques Gasqui completes the trilogy he devoted to the mountain troops and to three great soldiers from a village in Isère of which he was mayor: Saint-Georges-de-Commiers.
