The "tank of Victory". Such is the epithet applied to the FT-17, a light tank whose eminently modern design would set the standard. Produced in large quantities and committed to battle in great numbers in 1918, this armoured vehicle — both manoeuvrable and effective — played a leading role in Allied operations during that decisive year of the Great War. Its career did not end with the First World War, however, and continued for many more years, both in combat and in training schools.

This book, written by Jean-Baptiste Petrequin and Paul Villatoux, two recognised specialists in the field of military history, revisits the genesis of this armoured fighting vehicle, its various developments, its operational engagements and its different versions both in France and abroad. Around fifteen diagrams, some of them previously unpublished, and approximately one hundred photographs complete a dense and precise narrative.
