M1951 Field Jacket Olive - Pike Brothers
The M-1951 field jacket was a four-pocket US Army combat jacket made from a 9 oz wind-resistant and water-repellent cotton sateen in Olive Green 107 (OG-107). It was redesignated the M-1951 field coat in November 1956. It was replaced by the M-1965.
The 1951 military jacket, or M-1951 of the US Army, succeeded the M-1943 military jacket. The 1951 is the forerunner of all modern military jackets. Developed in the early 1950s, its aim was to provide excellent freedom of movement and generous storage space, and it featured a removable inner lining. Furthermore, the objective was to create a jacket that could be used both in the field and for garrison duties. All these features were successfully combined in the 1951 military jacket.
Although produced for only a few years, it quickly achieved cult jacket status. The 1951 military jacket was made from a heavy 9 oz cotton poplin offering excellent wind and moisture resistance. The zipper is a Talon closure and is concealed by a button placket. The inner lining could be attached to the jacket with buttons.
Pike Brothers produced the 1951 military jacket to the same specifications as in the early 1950s, reviving this legendary jacket. From the outer dense cotton poplin to the Talon No. 10 zipper and the authentic size tabs.
The following details characterise the M-1951 field jacket:
- 9 oz outer fabric in 100% cotton
- Inner lining in 100% cotton
- Authentic cut
- 4 large outer pockets
- Drawstring for waist adjustment
- Talon zipper
