The Tropical Combat Uniform was the standard uniform of American soldiers during the Vietnam War.

Developed in the early 1960s, it was designed to withstand the extreme climatic conditions of the jungle. The uniform was made from very lightweight yet durable cotton poplin that dried quickly. The jacket and trousers featured various spacious pockets for storing equipment such as maps, field dressings, a knife, etc.

Pocket buttons are concealed under a flap to prevent snagging on plants and vegetation.

The Tropical Combat Uniform marks an important milestone in the design of modern military and outdoor clothing. Its influence on textile design in terms of functionality and durability endures to this day, impacting military, workwear and everyday clothing.

The 1966 Jungle Pant is based on the 2nd pattern Jungle Pant, with buttons under flaps and waist adjustment tabs. Like the original, it is made from lightweight cotton poplin.
