The style of the Red Wing Iron Ranger 8111 Amber Harness boot is inspired by the "Mesabi Iron Range" located in northern Minnesota. It is a mountain range known for its iron ore deposits. The proud workers in these mines were nicknamed "Iron Rangers".

The Red Wing Iron Ranger is easily recognized by its double-layered leather toe cap, which provides extra protection. The Red Wing Iron Ranger also features an additional heel counter for better support. Red Wing's Amber Harness leather is a natural, unpigmented leather. As a result, the Amber Harness leather ages very well and all its natural markings remain visible.

The Red Wing 8111 Iron Ranger features a Vibram 430 Mini Lug outsole — unbreakable, flexible and oil-resistant. The 8111 Iron Ranger is delivered with round black/brown taslan laces.
