The first work dedicated to the 6th Foreign Infantry Regiment, tracing its epic from 1939 to 1948 across Syria, Lebanon and Tunisia, and paying tribute to the Levant legionnaires united under the motto "Ad Unum" – To the last man.

Born in the Levant in 1939, the 6th Foreign Infantry Regiment would exist for only nine years, yet it experienced everything: dispersed garrisons, gruelling marches, long periods of waiting, and then the ordeal of combat. In a crossroads region where imperial ambitions, local rivalries and strategic stakes intersected, the "Levant regiment" held its ground with a tenacity that commands respect.

From Syria and Lebanon through the post-war reorganisations to Tunisia, this history is above all the story of men. Officers, NCOs and legionnaires stand together behind the colours, at the cost of heavy losses, driven by a shared demanding standard: the honour of service and regimental discipline, summed up by their motto – "AD UNUM", "To the last man".

This book reconstructs, as closely as possible to individual stories and the regiment's own memory, the epic of a unit that long remained in the shadows.
